Do you have an appreciation for keen attention to detail when you go out to eat? Are you the kind of person that enjoys going to a restaurant for the experience? Well, you and I have this in common. I love fine dining, no surprises there, but I absolutely will remember a spot that exceeds my expectations in not only the food, but the wonderful atmosphere and even more wonderful staff that make the experience truly remarkable and worth the price.
Enter, The Pine.
This restaurant has earned a Michelin Star in 2024. My friend and I decided to take a trip to Creemore to check it out and well, what should come as no surprise to you, we were extremely impressed, but what came as a shock to us was the extremely comfortable dining experience.
For my friend and myself, this was our first Michelin Star restaurant. I have visited fine dining spots a few times in the past mostly in Toronto and the food was fine, although sometimes not quite worth the price. The atmosphere of the restaurants are typically quite rigid and surface level. The quality of the service from the staff is minimal at best. Not trying to deter those from going to these restaurants, I would just expect a better experience when paying the price. When my friend and I arrived to The Pine for our reservation, we were greeted warmly, my jacket taken to be hung up, and we were seated at our table. I noticed that the set up of the restaurant is made to feel as though you are visiting a friend's house for an intimate dinner party, with the seats arranged to be facing the kitchen (they have two, one where the food is being made and then another to show guests the food being plated in their unique set ups, this is the area in which the seats are facing.)

A very notable mention about this wonderful restaurant is the staff and the quality of the service. The staff are dressed casually and are very personable and down to earth, a lot of jokes were had, especially at the end! It was very much appreciated chatting with a few of the staff members at the end of the tasting menu, we even spoke with Chef Jerry, the creator of The Pine. Everyone seems to genuinely care about how we thought of our visit and what we thought of the food, and that does not go unnoticed.
The food. Of course. We had a 17- course tasting menu with non-alcoholic beverage pairings throughout the experience. There are alcoholic pairings as well, if desired. I was definitely not expecting the expansive selection of non- alcoholic beverages that paired perfectly with each item to follow. Each course was presented with care, a chef tells the story of the dish, as well as how to eat it. Every single dish that we had had a very memorable flavour that you remember long after you've left the restaurant and gone home for the evening. The presentation of the dish also matched the flavour, like for example, if the dish tasted earthy like cedar, you would almost expect it to be presented in a bowl with cedar branches, and it is. Words simply do not fully describe the food or The Pine, and we will be back.
